  • Adult/older puppy for adoption

In choosing a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel (CKCS) as your new family member, you are making a commitment to his care for the next 12-15 years. Please research the breed and review your family plans before you make any decisions. All of our dogs are raised in the home, not in a kennel. We will only place our puppies into where they will be cherished and pampered. We do not sell to brokers, pet shops or commercial breeders.

When you buy a Bitterroot Cavalier, the puppies will have a great start to being potty trained, litterbox trained, use to a doggy door, and EXTREMELY well socialized!! Our puppies will also sleep throughout the night in his/her crate. All my puppies are crate trained!
You will receive a binder with his health records, microchip, AKC registration application, lots of info about training, caring for your new puppy, parent's pedigree including the OFA health certificate numbers.

I do not ship but I will meet you at the airport with your puppy and make sure he/she is accustomed to a soft sided crate for an easy flight home. I can give you a contact number for a flight nanny that I have used for my own puppies.

Our entire puppy parents are OFA certified for heart’s along with OFA for eyes by Board Certified Ophthalmologists and Cardiologists yearly and
OFA patella's. My dogs are also DNA tested for Episodic Falling (EF), Dry Eye/Curly Coat Syndrome (DE/CC).
I still test for
Degenerative Myelopathy (DM) but so many are no longer testing for it. No Cavaliers are tested in Europe for DM.
Most of my dogs are clear, a couple are carriers of a single copy, which makes them not at risk.

These clearance certificates are available for you to see.
The contract is on this website (click on puppy adoption information) for you to look over, but please don't use that one, I will create one for you and your puppy.  If you would like to reserve a pup from a future litter or one that is less than 10 weeks of age the deposit is $500. Before sending in your deposit, you need to fill out the file 'Deposit Contract' plus the file 'Adoption Application'

I sell my puppies on a limited AKC registration on a neuter/spay contract. Only with special consideration, will I sell on a FULL AKC.

Please plan a time when you can spend the first few days at home all day with him. This helps ease the separation from mom and siblings and ensures bonding. Family vacations, moves, and events or celebrations should be completed prior to arrival for new puppy. The need consistency and quiet routines to ensure a smooth transition and for housebreaking.

If puppy is to stay longer then 10 weeks. The rate is  $25/per day. if your puppy needs a second vax, that will be $20.

I will continue to board, but only with a giardia negative snap test and a Bordetella vaccination
(kennel cough) 2 weeks prior to boarding. The cost is $25 a day.
